Wererats are monsters in ADOM that are part human and part rat. They are capable of summoning rats and giant rats. This means that they can provide vast supplies of rat corpses, which are useful for taming wild cats and cave lions. This makes them actually quite helpful to come across, considering that being surrounded by hordes of rats is typically not dangerous.

Like all rats, they can swim and their melee attacks have a small chance to cause Sickness.

Corpse effects[]

As with other werebeasts, eating wererats makes the PC sick. They can still be eaten for satiation in emergencies, though the PC should preferably have potions of healing or curaria mancox herbs on hand.

Monster memory[]

Creatures which change between humanoid form and a large giant rat, they are rumored to have once been fully humanoid, but infected with some disease or curse. They are known to summon hordes of their brethren when attacking, as well as using their long front teeth. They supposedly retain either their long front teeth or their long noses when in humanoid form.
