The obsidian quarrel "Thunderstroke" is a random artifact. It is a very powerful missile that has a high chance to return when fired. Despite its name, it does not exert magical effects on targets such as stunning or shock damage. It appears as an obsidian quarrel when unidentified.

Thunderstroke is by far the best missile in the game, with a much greater damage potential than any other missile (or even any weapon, bar the TotRR or axe of the minotaur emperor).

Like all random artifacts, it can be granted as a precrowning gift or a reward for making use of a potion of uselessness; generated in a surge of power or greater vault; or generated as random loot (albeit very rarely).
