I haven't yet tried to replicate this, but a dwarven chaos knight with access to a few wishes and lots of scrolls/potions of education observed that three skills he learned could not be raised by practice or levelup as their skill increase dice were locked at zero and no method could get them higher. The only way to increase proficiency was to use additional scrolls and potions of education. The skills in question were Cooking, Gardening, and Law which might be considered somewhat anathema to the chaos knight's occupation, so I'm wondering if other classes have similarly incompatible skills. All skills were learned by wishes or scrolls, not quests. 20:59, October 31, 2014 (UTC)

Ah yes, I remember reading in a bug report that cooking cannot be trained by Chaos Knights. I guess it makes sense that they cannot train Law or Gardening either.
Regarding other classes, the only case I know of is where a class can't train a skill is with Paladins, which can't increase Necromancy (if they manage to learn it by potion of education or wish). Nightcrawler226 (talk) 21:42, October 31, 2014 (UTC)

I'm playing gray elf wisard and have same problem with skill self-traning. The ones my character has obtained by potion and scroll of education is Woodcraft and Metallurgy that cannot be trained by no means (e.g. successfully applying and etc.). And the ones character got by wishing is Gemology, Mining and Fletchery that are trained with no problem (some got to 100 already). ADoM version is 1.10.0 release 52.
