Skeletal kings are monsters in ADOM. They are spellcasting monsters that are able to attack with glowing balls and confusion spells, and can summon skeletal warriors. They have multiple attacks, and are also quite strong in melee. They are able to walk on water, including the chaos piranha infested kind.

One skeletal king is guaranteed to be generated in each game, guarding the Ring of the High Kings on the lowest level of the Tomb of the High Kings. His confusion spells are particularly dangerous, as they may cause unlucky PCs to stumble into the red lake and be eaten alive by piranhas. Since he does not actually carry the RotHK (he is just found standing in front of it), it is possible to lure him away from it and grab it without having to fight him.

Further skeletal kings can be found in the late game, on dungeon levels of high danger level.

An ancient coronet sits upon the brow of this menacing creature. Its face is devoid of expression, aside from a permanent, dreadful grin. Its clothes are tattered and torn, some showing ancient sigils of kingdoms long gone. They are known to attract a following of undead servants and followers, mimicking their former lives as rulers. Skeletal kings possess great power, being capable of bringing the corpses of fallen enemies under their control. Some ancient documents also mention their capacity for magic. Their voice is cold, their speech delivered in tones of one used to command.
