Item Type Scroll
Artifact? Yes
Weight 2s
Danger Level 8
Material Nonmetallic

The scroll of the finder is a non-guaranteed artifact. When read, it functions as either a scroll of magic mapping, scroll of item detection, scroll of gold detection, scroll of monster detection, or scroll of treasure creation. Unlike scroll of magic mapping, it can be used to map the final level of the Minotaur Maze. It is not consumed when read, but reading it incurs a small amount of corruption (around 65 reads are required to get a full corruption). It appears as a gilded scroll when unidentified.

Desirability[edit source]

It can be very useful in certain circumstances. While most of the effects tend to be available in sufficient quantity from normal items, mapping often is not, and can be quite handy in some areas.

Guaranteed/Common sources[edit source]

It can be granted as a precrowning gift or a reward for making use of a potion of uselessness, generated in a surge of power or greater vault, or generated as random loot (albeit very rarely).
