Scorpion's Sting ( ( )
Item Type Melee weapon
Artifact? Yes
Weight 50s
Danger Level Unknown
Material Iron

The wicked spear "Scorpion's Sting" is a non-guaranteed one-handed artifact weapon. It boosts speed, is permanently poisoned, and grants a number of fairly useful intrinsics. It appears as a spear when unidentified, making it indistinguishable from normal iron spears.

It is a decent weapon. It deals less damage than the guaranteed Big Punch, but makes up for it with better abilities, intrinsics, and weapon skill.

It is also the best available one-handed polearm. A melee-oriented character who finds it early in the game may wish to pair it with a strong shield and use it exclusively, training the Polearms weapon skill and thus earning a considerable advantage when the rune-covered trident and/or Trident of the Red Rooster become available later in the game.

Guaranteed/Common sourcesEdit

It can be granted as a precrowning gift or a reward for making use of a potion of uselessness, generated in a surge of power or greater vault, or generated as random loot (albeit very rarely).
