Scalpels are one of the basic types of weapon in ADOM. They belong to the Daggers and Knives weapon class.
The base iron variety has default stats of (+2, 1d3+1), though these do vary from time to time. Mithril and truesilver scalpels also exist, but there are no adamantium or eternium versions.
Desirability[]
Scalpels are better than knives and daggers, but still not very good weapons overall. Orcish knives even fare slightly better than the iron version. Scalpels have a relatively high selling price for their power, but are quite rare to find.
Guaranteed/Common Sources[]
They can be obtained in the same manner as all generic loot. All Healers start out with one. Also, the mad doctor will give a scalpel and stethoscope to PCs that complete the Kill Jharod quest but already have Healing.
