Royal guardians are only found in royal vaults (unless wished for), and always have a name. They become hostile if the PC picks up any gold from their vault.
They are quite dangerous opponents with penetrating attacks, the ability to disarm and the ability to see through darkness and invisibility. They seem to be generated at high levels, at least twice that of the PC (more testing is needed to verify this). They can sometimes resist attempts to teleport them.

Eating a royal guard is an act of disorder that curses the PC, or dooms him/her if already cursed.
Monster memory[]
A member of the devoted royal guard, the guardians are almost a race unto themselves; the positions are hereditary and to fail as a guard is to bring shame upon the families that await the return of the High Kings. Royal guardians are polite until duty demands protection of the Kings or their property.
