Rings of the fish provide a degree of protection from drowning when equipped. This protection is not absolute (as they do not grant water breathing) and depends on the B/U/C status. A single blessed ring, or two rings of any other status will negate drowning damage.
Note that rings of the fish are autocursing – equipping one will immediately curse it. In addition to standard annoyances with cursed equipment, autocursing interferes with the protective properties described above.
Desirability[]
Can make all the difference between a river being a deathtrap and a potential means to escape from monsters safely. One of the ways to not drown in the Water Dragon Cave.
Guaranteed/Common sources[]
They can be generated in the same manner as all generic loot.
