This is a page about a common monster. For other uses, see Orc.
|Sees in the dark?||Yes|
Orcs, in their unskilled form, are basic and primitive monsters that are particularly common in the game. They are a common sight in many dungeon levels; and tension rooms and lesser vaults on low DL areas are likely to contain orcs. Even if a lesser vault mainly consists of ogre species, orcs may still appear in it.
They are generally weak monsters, with mediocre-to-average fighting abilities. They tend to carry orcish knives, and can throw one at the PC as a ranged attack.

Corpse effects[edit source]
Dwarves refuse to eat orcs unless they are starving. All other races can eat orcs with no ill effects.
"Beauty won't help you to survive, strength and toughness will!" Something like this must have crossed Gruumsh's mind when he created the race called orcs. The pig-faced orcs live in an extremely harsh environment. When there are no enemies to be fought they fight each other. This selection combined with their fast reproduction rate makes orcs one of the strongest and most diverse humanoid race known. Yet, they are as wild and (most of them) primitive and stupid as they are strong. That stopped them from being a real threat to civilization in general. They tend to wear everything they can lay their hands on.
