Ochre jellies are monsters in ADOM.

The most notable property of an ochre jelly is that it is covered in acid. If attacked with a weapon that is neither an artifact nor made of stone, eternium, crystal, or glass, the weapon will corrode - meaning its base to-hit and damage will decrease. The weapon may also end up being destroyed if it is corroded too many times. If the PC attacks one unarmed and does not have acid resistance, either the PC's gauntlets will be damaged or destroyed (if the PC is wearing a pair gauntlets that is neither an artifact or alchemistic gloves), or the PC will take damage (if he/she isn't wearing gauntlets). The same applies to PCs and their boots when kicking them. Interestingly, even the PC's gauntlets and boots will survive unarmed melee attacks if the PC has at least one count of acid resistance.

It is advised that when fighting an ochre jelly, the PC should use ranged attacks i.e. missiles or magic.

Ochre jellies are also breeders; and resist acid attacks.

Monster memory[]

Largest of the jellies, the ochre species is also the most dangerous, with an acidic secretion strong enough to burn through almost any substance. Rust-colored due to its metallic diet, the ochre jelly poses a dire threat to an unprepared adventurer — and to his equipment. The jelly has evolved the arts of passive offense and self sacrifice: by the time one jelly dies, its prey is often so fatigued (and defenseless from the jelly's corrosive effects) that he fails to notice the jellies that have grown from the pieces of the original, ready to finish the job...
