|Necklace of the eye ( ' )|
Necklaces of the eye modify the PC's vision range, increasing/decreasing it based on the B/U/C status:
- Blessed necklaces allow the PC to see 4 squares further; they will also grant some sort of "vision" to blind characters by revealing the map (but not monsters) in the PC's immediate vicinity.
- Uncursed necklaces allow the PC to see 2 squares further.
- Cursed necklaces will decrease vision range by 2 squares.
These modifiers vary depending on the location (less effect in "dark" areas like Water Dragon Cave, more effect in "bright" areas such as wilderness encounters).
Necklaces of the eye are one of the most commonly used non-artifact necklaces. Increased vision range provides the PC with multiple tactical advantages ranging from spotting very dangerous monsters from afar to using ranged attacks against monsters who cannot even see the PC from their location. The increase to vision range granted by necklaces of the eye stacks with other bonuses (such as those granted by torches or the Farsight spell). In extreme cases it is possible to see the whole level at once (typically possible in open areas such as the Animated Forest or the Big Room) which will effectively stop any monster generation (as monsters cannot be created on a visible square).
Necklaces of the eye can be generated in the same manner as generic loot.
