Nature's Friend ( [ )
Item Type Shield
Artifact? Yes
Weight 80s
Danger Level Unknown
Material Nonmetallic

The intricate wooden shield "Nature's Friend" is a non-guaranteed artifact. When wielded, Nature's Friend grants four elemental resistances as well as resistance to poison.

In its unidentified form, it is indistinguishable from regular wooden shields. Besides taking the risk of wielding it, the only ways of identifying it from regular wooden shields are by magical identification means, appraising, or attempting to sell it (artifacts often have unusually high selling prices).

It is not very useful, as shields with much better stats are quite easy to find (e.g., medium crystal/eternium shields or large shields of adamantium or better). Single elemental resistances are easy enough to obtain through other means, such as just eating certain monsters. Still, at least unlike regular wooden shields it won't burn.

Guaranteed/Common sources[]

It is a possible crowning gift for Druids, Elementalists, Farmers and Rangers. It can also be granted as a precrowning gift or a reward for making use of a potion of uselessness; generated in a surge of power or greater vault; or generated as random loot (albeit very rarely).
