Lump of beeswax ( % )
Item Type Food
Artifact? No
Weight 5s
Danger Level N/A
Material Nonmetallic

Lumps of beeswax are an item generated by beehives. They are technically food, and can be eaten for a small amount of satiation, but their primary use is to cause deafness by plugging the PC's ears.

Beeswax offers little benefit in terms of satiation. What makes it desirable is that it can be 'u'sed to plug the PC's ears, causing deafness. This is perhaps the easiest and safest way to gain immunity to the banshee's wail. Removing the wax afterward is as simple as calling upon the otherwise useless clean 'E'ars command. Be warned that being hit by fire melts the beeswax and removes deaf status.

Guaranteed/Common sources[]

Beeswax is found, logically enough, in beehives. In practice there seems to be about 5 lumps per hive. Beeswax is only generated when the hive is destroyed; beehives cannot be milked by any means.
