Log is a type of tool/misc item in ADOM. Logs are very heavy items that can be used to build bridges with the appropriate skill, or can be used in fletchery.
Desirability[]
They are very desirable for PCs intending on using fletchery, as one log will produce a much larger stack of ammo than one wooden stick... and still consumes only one charge of the fletchery set per log. A log is also the vital ingredient for building bridges with. The fact that logs are difficult to carry means they can prove cumbersome for PCs intending on using them for either skill, though.
It is possible, also, to wield a log as a weapon. It weighs the same as Big Punch, though; and is nowhere near as powerful. Still, as they say: they are useful until a better weapon is found.
Guaranteed/Common sources[]
'U'sing a hatchet when standing on a square where a tree is growing will produce a log; though this takes a long time (make sure to become very satiated first). Slain animated trees will also sometimes leave logs.
