The lead great axe is a non-guaranteed two-handed artifact weapon. It has a 15% chance to score critical hits in melee, slays plants, and is permanently poisoned. It appears as a great axe when unidentified, but can be distinguished from normal great axes by its unusual weight.


It is not a very good weapon. It deals poor damage for a two-handed weapon, and has a DV penalty on top of not being able to be used with a shield. Plant monsters are uncommon and not terribly threatening, and its other bonuses are not powerful enough to compensate for its drawbacks.
