|Javelin of doom ( / )|
Javelin of doom is a type of missile which can be thrown without requiring a missile weapon.
They return when thrown, and make a character doomed while equipped.
Dooming is a very dangerous effect in combat, thus javelins of doom are very impractical as missile weapons unless you can ensure that no monsters are in melee range or using ranged attacks/spells.
Self-inflicted dooming—which can be readily removed by unequipping the item—actually has some occasionally useful properties, such as increasing the rate of wilderness encounters (easing the player's hunt for e.g. quickling parties for speed, giant boars for skulls, black unicorns to obtain potions of cure corruption).
