Hornet's Sting ( ( )
Item855
Item Type Weapon
Artifact? Yes
Weight 29s
Danger Level Unknown
Material Iron

The vibrating rapier "Hornet's Sting" is a non-guaranteed one-handed artifact sword. Its to-hit, and DV, PV, and speed bonuses gradually increase as it is used to damage monsters, but drop back to their base values over time. Conveniently, it grants both teleportitis and teleport control. It appears as a rapier when unidentified, but can be distinguished from normal rapiers by its unusual weight.

Constructs, plants, insects, undead, dwarven chaos knights, chaos knights, molochs, greater molochs, and emperor molochs, apparently do not have blood, and thus will not power up this weapon.

DesirabilityEdit

It is primarily useful for its teleporting powers. As a weapon, it is quite weak and impossible to power up significantly.

Guaranteed/Common sourcesEdit

It can be granted as a precrowning gift or a reward for making use of a potion of uselessness, generated in a surge of power or greater vault, or generated as random loot (albeit very rarely).
