Hill giant chieftain is a type of monster in ADOM. They are much tougher than lesser hill giants, and can be found leading hunting parties of them in hilly areas in the wilderness once the PC reaches level 15. They are somewhat strong, can fire rocks, and often leave the slings they use when they are killed.

Chance to increase Strength by 1, or potential Strength by 1 if Strength is at potential. The increase is less likely the higher Strength is, with less than a 10% chance of working once Strength is 29 or higher. Cannot increase Strength higher than 40.

Monster memory[]


A huge humanoid covered in furs and dirt... muscular and filthy, violent and brutish. With amazing ease he carries a medium-sized tree and a fur sack filled with animal corpses... or is that a hurthling peeking out of the sack? This giant wears a bone necklace as a badge of authority, although his stupid grin makes it hard to believe that he could lead anything but a frenzied berserker horde.


A pile of rocks and dirt steps in front of you... no, it's a ferocious, filthy, female form, clothed in what looks like hippogriff hide, wearing a necklace of dwarf skulls. She has some misshapen skull perched on her head — a troll's, you pray, please nothing tougher than a troll's! She wails "Can't ye idiots catch one runty little t'rall? Do I have to do it meself?"
