The helm of the Night Watchman is a non-guaranteed artifact. In addition to its defensive bonuses and Perception bonus, it emits light while properly equipped. It appears as a dirty helmet when unidentified.
Desirability[]
Its PV bonus alone makes it a great item. Having an indestructible light source outside of the amulet and tool slots is very useful against certain monsters, including Nuurag-Vaarn, Katharamandus, and Andor Drakon.
Guaranteed/Common sources[]
It can be granted as a precrowning gift or a reward for making use of a potion of uselessness, generated in a surge of power or greater vault, or generated as random loot (albeit very rarely).
