Hand axes are one of the basic types of weapon in ADOM. They belong to the Axes weapon group, training and receiving bonuses from the corresponding weapon skill.


Desirability[edit source]

Hand axes are slightly worse than most other basic melee weapon types, featuring a somewhat low damage dice modifier. Battle axes, abundant in the early game thanks to (large) gnolls are simply a better choice for characters that focus on axes.

Guaranteed/Common Sources[edit source]

They can be obtained in the same manner as all generic loot.

Dwarven guardians residing in Dwarftown may drop iron hand axes when killed.
