Greater daemon is a type of monster in ADOM. They are quite powerful mid-to-late game monsters that can teleport, breathe fire and drain PC's stats in melee range. The latter power is a particularly frustrating effect, so the PC should try to kill a greater daemon quickly — preferably from afar — before it can use that spell. Like most demons, greater daemons are immune to fire.

As of version 1.2.0 greater daemons are able to summon quasits and lesser daemons[1]. Unlike other summoners, they will always create a single creature per ability use.

In Thrundarr's fifth quest, a greater daemon will appear in Dwarftown and the PC must kill it. Stronger than most of the inhabitants of the city as well as most of the monsters around that general area, the greater daemon will also fight with and easily kill many of the residents. PCs aspiring to complete a special ending must make sure it doesn't kill the demented ratling before learning the secret of the stone circle.

Monster memory[]

A daemon with the power to create lesser beings of its kind, they have great powers of magic and manipulation on this plane. They usually take a humanoid shape ranging in size from a large human to a large troll, depending on the powers it manifests. They seek the destruction of lawful beings and communities, usually to specific ends as part of a barter for power.
