'''Greater Identify''', otherwise known as Greater Enlightenment, is a spell in ADOM. When cast, it allows you to select an item and receive a detailed description of it, as well as its [[B/U/C status]] if not known already. However, with many items, many important characteristics are not revealed -- for example, it does not reveal the effects of potions or scrolls, or certain magical properties of some artifacts. See below for examples of a greater identify on several items.

<!-- Just did some tests with archmage. Greater Identify doesn't always reveal all info — it's highly dependant on Learning stat. With Le 1 it is possible to get zero extra features for artifact (like AMW). With Le of 13 I've gotten 3 effects out of 7 and typically no more that 5. Reliable info starts arriving around Le of 20. Spell proficiency doesn't seem to do anything, although I don't have adombot to test +3000. 10chars-->

Greater Identify is a utility spell in ADOM. It allows the caster to learn about special characteristics of an item in his/her possession.

Casting Greater Identify will prompt the player to choose an item (either worn/wielded or in inventory) and will reveal its stats as well as intrinsics it confers and hidden features. The B/U/C status of the item will also be displayed and remembered by the PC.

It is worth noting that the spell does not always display full information about the item (see below). Only blessed scrolls of great identify will always reveal all properties of items.

Stats[]

The efficiency of Greater Identify seems to be dependent on the PC's Learning. With extremely low values of the attribute it is possible to reveal only DV/PV, to-hit/damage stats and B/U/C status of the item and miss all conferred intrinsics. With averagely low values (~10 Le) half of the intrinsics can typically be missed. With higher than average values (20+) Greater Identify starts to reliably display all information. It is unknown to what extent spell efficiency affects the results.
