Long swords are one of the basic one-handed melee weapons in ADOM. Long swords belong to the Swords weapon group, and benefit and train the corresponding weapon skill.

Desirability[]

They are useful for any player who specializes in swords or intends to do so. While iron and mithril long swords are only useful fairly early in the game, adamantium and eternium long swords can be potent weapons right up until the end of the game, especially when coupled with a good prefix or suffix.

Guaranteed/Common Sources[]

They can be found randomly by killing monsters, in a shop, or found on the ground randomly. Chaos knights and chaos warriors will commonly drop eternium long swords.
