The elemental gauntlets are a guaranteed artifact in ADOM. They are found in the underground mausoleum below the Dwarven Graveyard.
The elemental gauntlets have stats of (-1, +0) [+0, +3], and grant resistance to fire, cold and shock attacks.They also halve the corruption caused by using the chaos orbs.
In their unidentified form, they are 10s "gauntlets", making them indistinguishable from regular gauntlets (or gauntlets of peace or Shezestriakis, for that matter).
Desirability[]
They are an extremely useful item, which can be considered as three indestructible dragon-hide gauntlets combined into one with a slightly better protection value of +3. They are the only guaranteed pair of artifact gauntlets in the game. Being artifacts, they can't easily be destroyed, and as long as a PC's gauntlets are intact, rings underneath them can't be destroyed, making the elemental gauntlets a foolproof way to keep equipped rings safe. The three resistances the gauntlets offer are moderately useful as well, and the combination of the elemental gauntlets and a ring of fire resistance underneath provides much of the protection a player needs to survive the Tower of Eternal Flames.
Their most important property, however, is not revealed by a greater identify: if they are equipped, the corruption cost from 'U'sing a chaos orb is halved. Thus, for example, the penalty for using the Chaos Orb of Elemental Water is reduced from 600 points of corruption to 300. If there is any chance the player might need to use one of the chaos orbs, the elemental gauntlets are vital. Players planning on using the orb for healing during tough battles must remember to equip the elemental gauntlets in advance.
The gauntlets are made of iron, and so Mist Elves are damaged while wearing the elemental gauntlets because of their "impure metal" racial disadvantage. This can be negated with the Immune to Pain talent, provided no other iron items are worn.
Guaranteed/Common sources[]
The gauntlets are found in the underground level of the Dwarven Graveyard, after receiving the Portal Quest from Thrundarr in Dwarftown. They are in a hidden room to the east of Griff Bloodax' grave, guarded by a bone golem, and are always sitting on a trap.
