Cat's Claw ( ( )
Item Type Melee weapon
Artifact? Yes
Weight 10s
Danger Level 6
Material Eternium

The thin dagger "Cat's Claw" is an artifact in ADOM. In ADOM v 1.1.1 and some earlier versions, the artifact can only be generated by crowning.

Wielding Cat's Claw grants a bonus of +8 to Dexterity, but it is practically useless as a weapon. It is guaranteed to inflict critical hits against rats, giant rats, and wererats.

In its unidentified form, Cat's Claw appears as a thin dagger, and has the same weight of regular daggers of returning (which also appear as "thin dagger" when unID'd). Since Cat's Claw does not return when thrown, it is easy to tell it apart from a dagger or returning without having to take the risk of wielding it.

Not much. Cat's Claw is by far the weakest artifact weapon in the game (though at least it is not as dangerous to wield as Moon Sickle). It is an artifact eternium dagger, but it does considerably less damage than an ordinary eternium dagger. The rare few PCs that never engage in melee with monsters—i.e. those relying entirely on magic, mindcraft or particularly archery—might wish to wield it for its very high Dexterity boost.

Guaranteed/Common sources[]

It is a possible crowning gift for Thieves and Bards.

As of v. 1.2.0 it can also be granted as a precrowning gift or a reward for making use of a potion of uselessness; generated in a surge of power or greater vault; or generated as random loot (albeit very rarely).
