Carrying capacity determines how much weight the player character (PC) may carry before becoming burdened or strained by excessive load.

Calculation[]

To make calculations easier, basic carrying capacity (BC) is defined as the highest possible weight at which the character is not yet strained, i. e. only burdened.

All fractions are rounded down.

  • Unencumbered - 0 BC to 0.75 BC.
  • Burdened - 0.75 BC (+1 stone) to 1 BC.
  • Strained - 1 BC (+1 stone) to 1.5 BC.
  • Strained! - 1.5 BC (+1 stone) to 1.75 BC.
  • Overburdened! - 1.75 BC to 6 BC.

Should the character carry more than their Overburdened! limit, they will die of being crushed under tons of luggage. It is impossible to pick up this much weight; only a reduction in carrying capacity can trigger this effect (typically losing a temporary carrying capacity boost).

The primary attribute for calculating carrying capacity is the character's Strength. The base BC of all characters is 1000 stones, and is modified by Strength attribute:

Basic carrying capacity can be modified further by several means.

Items[]

Girdle of greed

  • Cursed: BC is reduced by [weight of gold] x 4.
  • Uncursed: BC is increased by [weight of gold] x 0.5.
  • Blessed: BC is increased by [weight of gold].

Girdle of carrying

  • Cursed: BC is halved.
  • Uncursed: BC is increased by [Strength] x 50.
  • Blessed: BC is increased by [Strength] x 100.

Gloves of carrying

  • Cursed: BC is reduced by [weight of wielded items] x 3.
  • Uncursed: BC is increased by [weight of wielded items] x 0.5.
  • Blessed: BC is increased by [weight of wielded items] x 0.9.

(wielded includes any stuff including shields in offhand)

Bracers of lifting

Armor of carrying

  • BC is increased by 50%.

Spells[]

Class powers[]

  • Farmer — BC is doubled at level 6.
  • Merchant — BC is doubled at level 12 and tripled at level 50 (overrides level 12 power).

Talents[]

All percentage bonuses, from any source, stack multiplicatively.
