Bracers of purity prevent or reduce background corruption. Special corrupting areas (Chaos plane and Scintillating Cave 9) will still corrupt the PC.

They are not useful in combat, but are useful for keeping corruption under control, especially in high DL areas. They are extremely useful for circumventing the penalties of the 100 Day Limit.
