|Blue dragon-hide gauntlets ( [ )|
They appear as blue gauntlets when unidentified — the same as blue leather gauntlets (which are made from leather and do not provide shock resistance). They can be distinguished from their leather counterparts due to the -2 to-hit penalty. This, however, can only be checked by equipping them.
As all dragon-hide gauntlets are made of iron, players should be careful with these items while using Mist Elven characters.
Shock resistance is somewhat rare to get very early in the game (as there are no rings providing this intrinsic); since the lack of such resistance can prove fatal against fast lightning vortices, blue dragon-hide gauntlets are a relatively good find for a low-level PC.
Later in the game, most players will use elemental gauntlets against shock-based attacks and/or to protect their worn rings. However, unlike the artifact gauntlets, blue dragon-hide gauntlets can be generated and/or improved (via Smithing or scrolls of defense and scrolls of protection) to provide better physical protection. Admittedly, even with better stats they still remain destructible.
