Autocursing is the term often given to a particular item property in ADOM. Each time an autocursing item is equipped, the message "the <item> suddenly glows in a black light" is generated and the item immediately becomes cursed; requiring the PC to uncurse or bless it to remove it again. (See the page Losing cursed stuff for more details about how to deal with cursed equipment).
Greater Identity indicates that an item is autocursing with the line:
It is a permanently cursed item.
Interestingly, the autocursing property is even invoked when a monster equips an item. For example, if a monster equips a blessed or uncursed black torc, the message "The black torc suddenly glows in a black light" is generated and the item becomes cursed.
