Ankhegs are a type of monster in ADOM. They are notable due to their ability to breathe a stream of acid and a corresponding immunity to all acid-based attacks. They are also able to dig through walls.

Corpse effects[]
Eating an ankheg can grant the PC acid resistance ("Your stomach tingles"), but also makes them 'throw up' (which seems to decrease satiation a lot more than 'vomiting'; despite the terms being synonyms).
Monster memory[]
This large acid spitter looks similar to a praying mantis, but whether it is an insect variant or not is unknown. Some suspect it to be a highly specialized reptile due to its acidic spittle, but others hold the chitinous exterior and multi-faceted eyes as evidence of its insect nature.
