Ancient mummy wrapping ( [ )
Item Type Body armor
Artifact? Yes
Weight 60s
Danger Level N/A
Material Nonmetallic

The ancient mummy wrapping is a guaranteed artifact in ADOM. It provides a number of useful intrinsics, but also reduces Appearance by 8 whilst worn.

In terms of defensive stats, the ancient mummy wrapping is practically a heavier elven chain mail—in other words, it's not among the best armor in terms of PV. However, its multiple intrinsics provide useful resistance against a number of specific monster attacks. It provides resistance to death rays, which is a somewhat difficult intrinsic to gain otherwise, and grants the see invisible intrinsic which is also useful for detecting certain dangerous enemies such as the cat lord. Its provision of cold immunity makes it useful against cold wielding monsters such as Nonnak and Li-Hon-Kay in the arena (with the ability to see invisible also coming in handy against the latter).

In short, this armor is perhaps useful in specific encounters, such as against death ray wielders. Note that (as of v. 1.2.0) the Appearance penalty means that the PC will gain corruptions more quickly while wearing the armor.

Guaranteed/Common sources[]

The ancient mummy wrapping is dropped by Rehetep the mummy lord when he is defeated in the Pyramid.
