Amulets of perseverance apply a fixed bonus to the PC's Willpower while worn. Most amulets of this type provide a +3 bonus, although this can vary from +1 to +6.
Desirability[]
All PCs may benefit moderately from this amulet, as higher Willpower slightly increases maximum HP. More significantly, higher Willpower may improve resistance (or even provide immunity) against paralysis, confusion, sleep, or PP drain from monster attacks.
For spellcasting PCs, the amulet can be particularly useful under certain circumstances:
- If the amulet increases the PC's Willpower beyond the next ball spell threshold, such spells will become considerably more effective.
- If the player is about to repeatedly cast Strength of Atlas (to achieve a cumulative long-lasting effect), they may wish to don this amulet first since the bonus Willpower will increase the effective duration of each cast.
