Amulet of hunger ( ' )
Item Type Amulet
Artifact? No
Weight 3s
Danger Level 7
Material Iron

Amulets of hunger increase food consumption while worn. They are autocursing, so whenever the PC wears one it will become cursed and unable to be removed without the help of holy water, a scroll of uncursing, the Remove Curse spell or divine intervention.

When cursed, it quadruples base food consumption (consumption from artifacts and invisibility is unaffected). When uncursed, it triples food consumption, and when blessed food consumption is doubled.

This is about the only "bad" amulet in the game. However, it does have uses. Some PCs take advantage of it to lower their satiation value when attempting to eat lots of beneficial corpses in a short period of time. Most, however, prefer to use stomacemptia herbs or the acid spit available from either the correct corruption or being a Drakeling, as these methods do not consume valuable uncursing resources.

Guaranteed/Common sources[]

They can be generated in the same manner as all generic loot. However, they appear to be rather rare; especially in 1.1.1
