Wearing an amulet of death ray resistance prevents the player from instantly dying upon being hit by a death ray. A PC with death ray resistance will still take a lot of damage from monsters' death rays. However, death ray resistance will prevent damage from a bounced self-cast death ray.
Desirability[]
Some creatures, including the Chaos archmage, Andor Drakon and ki-rins, use death rays - without death ray resistance, fighting these creatures is virtual suicide. The amulet is only one possible source, however.
